Freeport Veterinary Hospital was founded in 1983 by Dr. David Bourassa. The clinic was originally located on Durham Road as a home office for Dr. Bourassa. As the need to expand arose, the current facility was built in 1998. Upon Dr. Bourassa’s retirement in October 2005, Dr. Carolyn Radding purchased Freeport Veterinary Hospital and took over all operations and retired in 2025. Dr. James Desir then became Medical Director in 2024.
Freeport Veterinary Hospital is a full-service companion animal hospital. It is our commitment to provide quality veterinary care throughout the life of your pet. Our services and facilities are designed to assist in routine preventive care for young, healthy pets; early detection and treatment of disease as your pet ages; and complete medical and surgical care as necessary during his or her lifetime. In 2024 we started to provide Urgent Care services to the Freeport area community. This service is available to all patients in the area even if they have not previously been to Freeport Veterinary Hospital.
All our team members provide the highest level of care to both you and your pet. We understand the special role that your pet plays in your family and look forward to becoming your partner in your pet’s health care. All of our team members have training in low stress handling techniques. Which means we take the utmost care to reduce fear, stress, and anxiety during any visit to our hospital. When you walk through our doors, you can expect to find smiling faces and experienced professionals ready to work with you to keep your furry friend happy and healthy for years to come.
